If you are looking to make yourself a better podcast interviewer… take a look at these tips!
- Research your guests and their work thoroughly before the interview. This will allow you to ask more informed and engaging questions.
- Practice active listening during the interview. This means not interrupting or talking over your guest and really paying attention to what they are saying.
- Prepare a list of questions beforehand, but be flexible and willing to deviate from the script if the conversation leads in a different direction.
- Have a clear goal for the interview and aim to stay on track and avoid tangents.
- Use open-ended questions to encourage your guests to share more about their experiences and insights.
- Be respectful and professional in your interactions with your guests.
- Use techniques such as rephrasing or summarizing to show that you are listening and to help keep the conversation flowing.
- Seek feedback from listeners and other podcast hosts to continue improving your interviewing skills.
