If you are looking to make yourself a better podcast interviewer… take a look at these tips!

  1. Research your guests and their work thoroughly before the interview. This will allow you to ask more informed and engaging questions.
  2. Practice active listening during the interview. This means not interrupting or talking over your guest and really paying attention to what they are saying.
  3. Prepare a list of questions beforehand, but be flexible and willing to deviate from the script if the conversation leads in a different direction.
  4. Have a clear goal for the interview and aim to stay on track and avoid tangents.
  5. Use open-ended questions to encourage your guests to share more about their experiences and insights.
  6. Be respectful and professional in your interactions with your guests.
  7. Use techniques such as rephrasing or summarizing to show that you are listening and to help keep the conversation flowing.
  8. Seek feedback from listeners and other podcast hosts to continue improving your interviewing skills.
  9. More importantly… have fun!
